New Moon in Capricorn

Gods demand sacrifices now just as they did in the old days. Saturn, especially. Are you willing to dive deep into your shadowy waters so you can climb high in the mountaintops, as is the way of Saturn-ruled Capricorn? In Times-Like-These, spiritual work is more important than ever because it gives us both humility and hope. It reminds us that what feels like sacrifice is usually just a trade-off. We get to have control over what we do, the Gods get control over the outcomes. That’s the trade. It’s a partnership. Capricorn asks us to look at where we’re pulling our weight in this partnership and where we’re looking to be saved. So? You want discipline, success, power? You want freedom? Perspective? Money? Resources? Resilience? You can have it all, if you’re willing to put in the work.

The New Moon in Capricorn is January 18th, 2026. During this cycle, we’ve shed a lot of things; made plenty of sacrifices, let go of our reservations, our fears, and the clothes that no longer serve us. Now we get to ask ourselves, what are we willing to do? What are you willing to do for what you want? And are you willing to let go of attachment to how it comes about? 2026 will be rewarding for those who take risks. What risks are you willing to take? Contemplate on this. Maybe do a little journaling. Maybe listen for a while, ask what action you can take today to move toward your goals. Listen for an answer. Maybe make this a daily practice for a few days. Maybe 7 days. 7 days is good.

It’s the New Moon. You want to do something cool and witchy. Get a red or black 7 day candle and a sharpie. Write your prayers of devotion on the candle. Write about your devotion to yourself, to your work, to your desires. Write how grateful you are to have the resources to achieve your goals. Put $10 toward your investments or into your savings account. It’s not witchy but it’s practical and Capricorn loves practicality, so therefore it is witchy. Maybe set that $10 underneath your candle first while you burn the candle and then put it into savings. There. It’s witchy.

Another way to honor Capricorn (and Saturn, for that matter) that I don’t see a lot of people talk about is honoring your capacity. If we don’t honor our capacity, we can’t also push ourselves when we’re ready. It seems counterintuitive but I’m not talking about neglecting your responsibilities or shirking your duties. I’m talking about showing up when you can how you can. We don’t get to have stability if we are constantly running ourselves ragged. The way to diving deep into those waters is to start by learning how to swim. What can you do to build your capacity in honor of this Capricorn New Moon? I would encourage you to do it.

Happy New Moon in Capricorn.
